Ch 6: When the Merman Turns Into a Disabled O

Chapter 6

“Sir, we’ve arrived.”

Butler He got out from the passenger seat and opened the car door for Chi Yanxing.

The second half of the trip was extremely quiet. Yu Su, sitting in the wheelchair, peeked out nervously but could only see pairs of legs hurrying by due to the angle.

He felt a bit nervous, tapping his fingers on the wheelchair. These were all real humans.

After Chi Yanxing got out of the car, he walked over to Yu Su’s side and opened the door with a click.

“The meal is already ordered. It’s a full fish banquet.”

Butler He, noticing the Omega’s hesitation, quickly spoke up to reassure the silent master, “The food here is really delicious. Sir is a high-ranking member here. Apart from mermaids, Mr. Yu can have any fish he likes.”

Yu Su: “…”

Damn.

He was even more scared now.

The little fish swallowed nervously and said, “I…”

The driver, butler, and Chi Yanxing were all standing outside the car, waiting for him to say something.

“I, um… my legs, my legs…”

My legs are weak! These humans are so cruel. How could they say something like eating mermaids? If they caught one, would they really try it?

But his unfinished words made the three people outside completely misunderstand him.

The driver, a kind and enthusiastic beta, was the first to speak and comfort him. “It’s okay, Mr. Yu. With Mr. Chi here, who would dare look at you?”

Butler He followed up quickly, “Medical technology is so advanced now. After we eat, we can go see a doctor.”

When it was Chi Yanxing’s turn, he seemed to sigh and then simply extended his hand. “We won’t use the wheelchair anymore.”

Butler He’s eyes lit up. Right, why hadn’t he thought of that!

A tall and handsome Alpha carrying his beloved little Omega—everyone would just envy them. How could it be strange?

Unexpectedly, Yu Su thought for a moment and shook his head. “We’re both men, so never mind. Besides, this chair is really comfortable. You’re too hard. Your abs are digging into me. It’s uncomfortable.”

Yu Su stubbornly refused to admit his jealousy and envy.

Driver & Butler: “…”

Too hard???

Chi Yanxing: “……”

The two men standing outside were still frozen, but Chi Yanxing quickly composed himself and began pushing Yu Su forward, heading into the restaurant despite the stares.

Being with this Omega, he was bound to develop the strongest Alpha heart.

The server leading them into the dining room couldn’t help but sneak glances at this unusual pair. Mr. Chi was a regular here, but this was the first time they had seen someone in a wheelchair with him.

No, to be precise, it was the first time they had seen someone brought out by Mr. Chi himself, and served personally.

Could it be that he’s benefiting from his good looks? The face was so perfect, as if sculpted by a program, with every detail breathtakingly delicate.

The server suppressed his curiosity and opened the door for them. “Sir, the dishes are ready. Please enjoy your meal.”

Chi Yanxing nodded in acknowledgment.

Once inside the private room, Chi Yanxing moved a large chair out of the way before positioning Yu Su’s wheelchair in the newly freed spot.

“Eat.”

Yu Su looked at him gratefully, and as soon as he opened his mouth, Chi Yanxing scooped up a spoonful of soup at the right temperature and fed it to him.

“Don’t talk. Eat first.”

Chi Yanxing quietly let out a breath when he saw Yu Su’s cheeks puffing up from the soup.

This mouth of his could only be closed with food.

After one spoonful, Yu Su seemed to have entered a whole new world. Was this what human food tasted like? It was so delicious!

So all he had eaten before were garbage foods!?

Yu Su’s movements were quick and graceful, and the fish disappeared from his plate almost as soon as it reached his mouth, leaving only the bones. Chi Yanxing went from being surprised to questioning his life as he watched.

He silently revised his perception of Yu Su from weak and pitiful to someone who could really eat.

This Omega didn’t seem to gain weight no matter how much he ate. He couldn’t imagine how Yu Su had lived before, especially since he didn’t even have proper clothes on the beach. His stomach must have never been full…

Chi Yanxing thought for a moment and silently picked up a small fish for Yu Su, calmly saying, “Slow down, be careful not to choke.”

Yu Su, in the middle of his eating frenzy, turned and flashed him a bright smile, and for a moment, Chi Yanxing thought he saw a flash of white light.

That was… Yu Su’s teeth? Why did they seem so unusually sharp…?

By the time Chi Yanxing found another opportunity to look again, Yu Su had already started drinking his soup and slipping it through. Chi Yanxing set down his chopsticks, his expression serious as he waited for Yu Su to rinse his mouth with tea before speaking, “Turn around.”

“Huh? What’s wrong?” Yu Su tilted his head.

Chi Yanxing narrowed his eyes slightly, his thumb and index finger pinching under Yu Su’s small, sharp chin as he ordered, “Open your mouth.”

Yu Su was confused, but seeing all the good food on the table, he reluctantly complied with a small sound.

Yu Su’s pink tongue curled up obediently, his clean white teeth like a row of perfectly arranged shells, neat and beautiful.

Chi Yanxing’s gaze darkened slowly, almost forgetting what he had intended to check in the first place.

But Yu Su, feeling uncomfortable, spoke up, “Hey, what are you studying?”

“It’s nothing,” Chi Yanxing said casually, letting go of his hand. “I just noticed how eager you are eating, so I was wondering if we should go see a dentist afterward.”

Yu Su: “…”

When they left the restaurant, Chi Yanxing was coincidentally stopped by a familiar face. Yu Su, bored out of his mind, was resting his chin in his hands behind him. The receptionist sneaked a glance at him, but once Yu Su noticed, he smiled back at the person.

The delicate Omega, looking fragile, actually had surprisingly bright and lively eyes. The ends of his light gold hair even swayed around his neck as he smiled, causing the sneaky server’s spine to tingle, with warmth suddenly rushing from his neck to his ears.

Chi Yanxing seemed to not notice or just didn’t acknowledge it. After exchanging a few brief words with his acquaintance, he subtly shielded the server’s gaze and pushed Yu Su outside.

Butler He had already adjusted his expression and opened the car door for them when they came out. Chi Yanxing didn’t use any assistive devices—he simply picked up Yu Su along with the wheelchair, and after a quick spin, Yu Su found himself seated inside the car.

Chi Yanxing casually flicked his coat and sat down beside him. He spoke without preamble: “We’re going to the hospital right away.”

The driver stepped on the gas, and the luxury car zoomed forward with a smooth whoosh.

Yu Su, observing the serious demeanor of the humans around him, felt a bit uneasy.

“No way. What if they find out my daily life involves fighting shark packs…” Yu Su muttered under his breath, quickly cutting off the thought. “Forget it, forget it, just hide the identity, hide the identity.”

To the others, this delicate Omega seemed like he was just looking out for them with his fragile, sickly demeanor.

It was Yu Su’s first time on land, and he couldn’t tell which building was the hospital and which was the supermarket. All his knowledge about humans came from his father, so when the car passed by the entrance to the hospital, he didn’t even notice.

It wasn’t until the car drove into a darker and more rundown alley that Yu Su felt something was off. He nervously squeezed his fingers, noticing the lights flickering on and off around them, almost like they were in a dangerous trench with hidden threats.

Just as the mermaid was growing more agitated, a hand reached out to gently pull apart his tightly clenched fingers, and a familiar, calm voice said, “Don’t be afraid.”

It was Chi Yanxing.

“We’re in the underground parking lot now. We’ll take a private elevator up in a moment. No one will see your wheelchair. We’re just going to see the doctor we’ve made an appointment with.”

Yu Su, who was more concerned about his wheelchair than anything else, sighed in relief and said, “Okay, I trust you. Don’t lie to me.”

Chi Yanxing’s voice in the darkness was especially reassuring: “I won’t.”

As if feeling that his simple words lacked convincing power, he added, “I’ll do my best to help you regain your memories. Maybe you’ll remember your family and friends.”

Or maybe even your childhood sweetheart, Chi Yanxing thought uneasily to himself.

The car stopped, and only then did their hands, which had been clasped together, slowly separate. Chi Yanxing carefully lifted Yu Su out of the car, and Butler He had already brought the wheelchair over.

“Sir, I wish you both good luck.”

Chi Yanxing nodded and pushed Yu Su toward the elevator.

“Ding—”

Yu Su blinked as he looked at the empty corridor outside the elevator door.

“This isn’t a hospital? Why is there no one here?”

Chi Yanxing pushed him out of the elevator, “This whole floor is reserved exclusively for me. Other doctors and patients aren’t allowed to come up without permission. We’re here specifically to see him.”

Yu Su nodded, then casually complimented, “You’re really rich.”

Chi Yanxing felt an odd, slightly flattered sensation in his heart. Well, at least this seemed like a proper… compliment.

“It’s nothing, let’s go. The doctor’s waiting inside.”

Yu Su nonchalantly agreed. He knew his own situation well. The supposed symptoms Chi Yanxing had mentioned didn’t apply to him at all. Aside from his useless legs, he was perfectly healthy. In fact, it was this man who seemed like the one who really needed to see a doctor.

The hard soles of Chi Yanxing’s shoes echoed against the white marble floor. Even though there were two of them, only one steady clack-clack sound could be heard.

Yu Su’s voice was sweet and soft, with a slight nasal tone, almost teasing, “Chi Yanxing.”

“Hm? What is it?”

“You should go see a doctor too, okay? I think you’re sicker than I am,” Yu Su reminded him carefully.

Chi Yanxing, initially speechless, then felt a strange feeling rise in his chest.

This little Omega, though direct in speech, was still quite sincere.

He was also pretty cute, Chi Yanxing thought, at least when there was food, he wouldn’t go hungry. That was one thing that reassured him.

Chi Yanxing didn’t respond to Yu Su’s comment because they had already arrived at a closed door. He knocked and, moving past the topic, introduced, “This is a friend of mine, he specializes in researching Alpha pheromone treatments, and he also treats Omega patients.”

Yu Su nodded.

Just as he was about to ask if the terrifying syringe had been developed by this doctor friend, the door opened from inside. The person who stepped out wore a long white coat, with slightly upturned peach blossom eyes hidden behind silver-framed glasses. They also seemed to be slightly shorter than Chi Yanxing.

Yu Su raised his gaze and then waved his hand to greet, “Hello? Doctor?”

Wen Bie looked at Yu Su, then glanced at the big boss standing behind him. His first words were, “The Omega Human Protection Act was just revised last month. Are you sure you didn’t get him from somewhere?”

Chi Yanxing’s face darkened, but Yu Su, who had his back turned, didn’t see it. So, he earnestly replied, “Doctor, Chi Yanxing is a good person, and I wasn’t abducted. He found me… so this, uh… is it legal?”

Wen Bie paused for a moment, stunned. Chi Yanxing, however, subtly curled the corners of his lips, releasing some pent-up frustration.

The whole fish banquet wasn’t wasted.

“Of course it’s legal,” Dr. Wen said, smoothing his expression and bending down slightly, his tone softening as he spoke to the cute little patient, “Come in, let me check your legs first.”

Yu Su nodded, and Chi Yanxing steadily pushed the wheelchair into the room.

Wen Bie clicked his tongue as he watched them, amazed at how an Alpha had found his destined Omega. In such a short time, he was doing everything— even managing the butler duties.
