Ch 4: When the Merman Turns Into a Disabled O

Chapter 4

By evening, Chi Yanxing pushed open the door to the guest bedroom. He expected to see a depressed and sluggish omega, but instead, he found Yu Su, engrossed in watching the sunset by the seaside through the window. He hadn’t even noticed Chi Yanxing standing behind him.

It wasn’t until Chi Yanxing placed a delicate plate on the nightstand with a soft clink that Yu Su finally reacted.

“When did you come in?”

Chi Yanxing replied indifferently, “Just now.”

The alpha, having controlled his emotions, reached over and pointed to the corner of the nightstand. “This is dinner. You’ll stay here for the night, and tomorrow morning someone will come to take us back.”

Yu Su was startled. “We’re leaving tomorrow?”

That meant he was getting further and further from the sea!

Chi Yanxing raised an eyebrow. “You want to stay here forever? Don’t you want to treat your legs?”

His legs? Yu Su looked down, then forced a smile. “Of course I want to treat them.”

Chi Yanxing replied, “Then it’s best if you cooperate. I’ve already arranged for a doctor.”

Yu Su had just picked up the plate when he was caught off guard by this statement.

…Had they really only just met? Was this human being too nice to him?

Yu Su put himself in Chi Yanxing’s shoes. If an unknown male appeared in his territory, even if he wanted peaceful negotiations, he’d have to first observe and test the situation subtly. But with Chi Yanxing, all the testing steps had been skipped, and in just a few hours, they were already at the level of holding hands like good friends.

It was as if the man didn’t care where he came from or what his background was.

Yu Su pretended to cough. “…Do all alphas treat omegas like this?”

Chi Yanxing, arms crossed, stood at the side. “It depends.”

Yu Su asked, “So, what situation am I in right now?”

After asking this, he saw Chi Yanxing narrow his eyes slightly. The last rays of the sun shone through the window, and for a brief moment, Yu Su thought he saw the man’s pupils weren’t entirely black.

Chi Yanxing didn’t answer his question. Instead, he took a slow breath.

The atmosphere in the guest bedroom immediately changed in a subtle, unusual way. Yu Su sniffed, and his eyes widened as the familiar scent from the return journey filled the room.

It was the same scent!

He was about to speak when the plate in his hands suddenly made a creaking sound, and within seconds, a small crack appeared right in front of his eyes.

Yu Su froze.

What was this? Was he being punished for saying something wrong and now wasn’t allowed to eat?

“You…”

“Did you see that? Just a bit of pheromone, and it’s already causing damage to the surroundings, failing to even induce a normal omega heat. Yet here you are, sitting calmly, while the last omega who happened to encounter my pheromone out of control was already on the brink of collapse.”

“At that time, my pheromone concentration wasn’t even half of what it is now. Do you understand what I mean, Yu Su?”

The name “Yu Su” was the first time it had been spoken so seriously from the man’s lips. It was low, lingering, and made the fish in question pause for a moment before blinking in slight annoyance. “Don’t scold me. Do I really look that tough?”

Chi Yanxing: “….”

Yu Su could see the man’s expression darken, so he quickly shifted to save himself. “Oh, don’t get mad. So, why are you telling me this? Is it because I’m not affected by it?”

Chi Yanxing, now completely unbothered by Yu Su’s attempt at humor, responded sharply: “Not only are you not affected, I even think you’re enjoying it based on your expression.”

Yu Su awkwardly cleared his throat, trying to maintain his composure. “No way.”

Chi Yanxing, used to giving orders, spoke firmly: “I don’t want to argue about this. You’re right that there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Right now, you’re penniless, with no memory, and even your medical checkup fee has been paid by me.”

Yu Su subtly straightened up, listening to Chi Yanxing continue: “I can continue to cover your expensive treatment costs, and even offer you a suitable job to support yourself. But you must agree to one condition.”

“What?” Yu Su asked cautiously.

“Stay with me, and when needed, bite you.”

Yu Su’s face suddenly changed color. “You really eat sashimi??!”

Chi Yanxing furrowed his brows. “Sashimi?”

What did sashimi have to do with their conversation? What was up with this omega? Could it be that his brain was really filled with seawater?

Yu Su quickly closed his mouth, then, in a swift motion, placed the plate back. “I’m not eating your food, and I’m not getting treated either. You can take me back to wherever you picked me up from. And no way will you bite me.”

He knew very well that he was fragile and tender. If that man took a bite, this little fish would be no match for him.

Chi Yanxing didn’t expect Yu Su to refuse so firmly. In his opinion, the omega should have been extremely grateful and accepted immediately.

“Throw me back then, I’m not going with you,” Yu Su stubbornly repeated. He even began to think about what position he should crawl back into the sea after being thrown back onto the beach.

Chi Yanxing’s brow furrowed tightly, and after a long while, he slowly relaxed. He almost forgot that this omega had a serious case of gender identity disorder. The alpha’s temporary marking ceremony would likely seem as nonsensical and violent to Yu Su as if he were being attacked for no reason.

“Eat your meal. Tomorrow, we’ll go back. We’ll get your brain checked first,” Chi Yanxing said, then turned to leave, kindly shutting the door for the omega who seemed to have problems from head to toe.

Inside the room, Yu Su was completely stunned. Get my brain checked?

After a while, he reacted, feeling furious. He stormed toward the door and yelled at the closed door, “You’re the one who needs to get your brain checked!”

First, he mocked him for being tough and thick-skinned, then wanted to bite him despite that, and when Yu Su refused, he gave him a look as if he were some kind of mentally challenged child. Thinking of all this, Yu Su angrily hit the mattress.

“Too much!”

The next morning, the door of the vacation villa was knocked from the outside.

Chi Yanxing came down from upstairs and opened the door.

“Good morning, sir.”

“Mm. Did you bring everything I asked for?”

The housekeeper replied professionally, “Everything’s ready. I compared over a dozen stores overnight and selected only the most expensive and most comfortable items.”

Chi Yanxing nodded with satisfaction, stepping aside to allow the housekeeper to enter. “Come in. He’s not awake yet.”

The housekeeper responded with an “Aye” before changing his tone and saying, “He—? This…”

Chi Yanxing turned back to the living room, poured himself a glass of water, and took a sip.

“I found an omega by the seaside yesterday. The wheelchair is for him.”

Chi Yanxing’s tone was no different than usual, as if he were talking about finding a fish by the sea instead of picking up a person.

The housekeeper’s face changed colors, before finally settling on surprise. “Did you… find your…”

“I don’t know. But so far, it looks like he’s not negatively affected by my pheromones.”

In fact, he might be too immune to it, Chi Yanxing thought with an absurd guess. Even if he had used more pheromones yesterday, it probably wouldn’t have been enough to trigger anything in the omega who seemed to have seawater in his brain.

The housekeeper didn’t think much about it, and instead said cheerfully, “That’s great! You just need to work a little harder and make sure that gentleman likes you sooner!”

Chi Yanxing chuckled, but his voice held a hint of sarcasm. “Let’s see. For now, it’s best to handle it as a mutual need.”

The housekeeper hesitated, eyeing Chi Yanxing, but ultimately pushed the wheelchair into the room without saying anything.

The two of them fell into a familiar silence. Just then, sounds came from the guest bedroom on the first floor. The housekeeper was about to move forward when he saw Chi Yanxing already striding past him.

Hadn’t they just said “mutual need” earlier?

The housekeeper lowered his head in confusion and looked at the wheelchair in his hands—shock-absorbing, anti-slip, with excellent texture. He recalled Chi Yanxing’s words, “The best,” and let out a long “Oh.”

The sir had never interacted with an omega before, so it was only natural that he’d be a bit slow and awkward in his actions. He understood.

In the housekeeper’s mind, a romance drama was playing out, where Chi Yanxing was the pure-hearted male lead under a large willow tree, and Yu Su was the pampered little omega. However, Chi Yanxing had no idea that he had been cast in this role.

He only heard the noise and thought that the omega had been clumsy enough to fall under the bed, but when Chi Yanxing quickly opened the door, he was surprised to see the omega already dressed, sitting on the edge of the bed.

“…How did you put on your pants?”

Yu Su hadn’t calmed down from the night before. He snorted lightly and replied, “Of course, I just put them on however they came off.”

Chi Yanxing: “…”

This omega didn’t look like a poor, pitiful soul. His actions and words made him seem more like a spoiled young master raised with all kinds of care and attention.

“If you really don’t throw me back, I won’t last long in your world. Sooner or later, you’ll kick me out,” Yu Su stubbornly suggested.

Hearing this, Chi Yanxing felt a strange discomfort in his heart, mistakenly thinking that Yu Su was talking about their differences in status and wealth.

“You’re the omega I brought back. Who would dare to treat you badly?”

Yu Su responded, “No, you’ll regret bringing me back. I’m hard to deal with!”

Chi Yanxing replied coldly, “Whether I’ll regret it or not, I’ll find out soon enough. Leaving aside the factors I mentioned yesterday, my education wouldn’t allow me to leave a defenseless omega in such a desolate place.”

His tone grew more severe, and there was a dangerous glint in his eyes as he looked at Yu Su. “I suggest you reconsider what I said earlier and not make conclusions too quickly.”

The wall painting in the room trembled slightly from the intense pheromones in the air. If Yu Su had a tail, it would probably be bristling by now.

“I’m just telling the truth. What’s with the anger? Did you think the underwater volcano was about to erupt?” Yu Su lowered his head, his voice shrinking.

The atmosphere in the bedroom grew a little heavy. From Chi Yanxing’s perspective, the delicate omega’s neck was pale and thin, shrinking from the harshness in his tone. He looked so small and fragile, it made him appear pitiful.

The housekeeper just happened to poke his head around the corner and saw his master silently rubbing his fingers.

It seemed like the sir was feeling a bit regretful.

Sure enough, just a few seconds later, Chi Yanjing stepped forward, half-squatted down, and with a somewhat unpracticed motion, explained, “I didn’t control my pheromones well earlier.”

The omega, who had his head lowered so that his expression was unclear, did not respond.

The housekeeper sighed inwardly. Naturally, controlling pheromones wasn’t that easy. If it wasn’t an absolute necessity, the sir wouldn’t have been willing to drop everything and take an indefinite leave of absence.

An alpha’s nature was full of dominance and possessiveness, not to mention that the sir’s pheromone control had already teetered on the edge of danger. It was perfectly normal for him to be emotionally unstable after being repeatedly rejected.

But Yu Su didn’t know any of this. He still didn’t even understand the concept of AO relationships. All he knew was that Chi Yanjing was really strange—his temper flared up quickly, and cooled down just as fast. He hadn’t said anything yet, but the man had already completed his self-assured self-setup.

So, the mermaid decided to speak gently and negotiate. “Do we really have to leave? I really like it here.”

The sea, the blue sky… maybe if he stayed a few more days, he could find an opportunity to sneak back into the water.

“If you like it, you can come back anytime, but not now. You need to see a doctor,” Chi Yanjing extended his hand, his voice deep and steady. “Come.”

The housekeeper, standing at the door, was excitedly biting his handkerchief. Yes, this is how it should be!

An omega, such a fragile creature, should be coaxed with soft words and great care. Paired with his master’s deceivingly charming face, how could it be… omega…

Yu Su sighed as he lifted his head, and the housekeeper’s expression immediately turned ghostly pale.

But Yu Su didn’t notice the person in the corner. He just looked at Chi Yanjing and said, “Alright, but remember, if one day we’re not getting along, don’t just toss me out. Wherever you found me, just put me back. Don’t worry, I have my own way of surviving.”

His own way of surviving? Fishing on the beach in a wheelchair?

Chi Yanjing barely paid attention to this remark, letting it go in one ear and out the other. “Let’s go, the doctor is already waiting for you. You need a full check-up.”

Yu Su, whose emotions had only just calmed down, was once again riled up. He bared his small sharp teeth. Such a handsome man—why did he have to have a mouth like that?

Chi Yanjing, a man always teetering on the edge of a crematorium. Hahaha!
