Ch 79: E-Sport’s Group Pampered Omega

Chapter 79

For professional teams, nothing speaks louder than the outcome of a match—and if one match isn’t enough, then you play another.

Polaris, the once-legendary team that had been dormant for two years, was like an old titan waking from its deathbed. Rising again from the dust, staggering but unstoppable, they walked a rugged, unbelievable path. Along the way, countless voices scoffed at them—calling their success luck, a fluke, a dying spark.

But these five people had fought their way back together. They won a training match, reentered the league, and then defeated last year’s semifinalist team, Rainbow, in the arena with decisive, thunderous force. Their comeback was smooth and arrogant; they couldn’t care less about others’ opinions—and it was precisely that unbothered confidence that made people start to believe: maybe Polaris really was strong.

[Comment Section:]

I think Polaris actually has something special going on…

No kidding? They were the triple-crown champions back in the day—do you even know what that means?

Fire and Island’s synergy was unmatched. Every healer in the league went weak in the knees facing them.

Kids these days really don’t know what true legends look like. Back then, God Z was like a deity descending to earth. This kind of record? Child’s play.

And Z’s eye for talent—no joke. The people he picked were all first-class geniuses.

I mean, he even managed to tame Timer into being a team’s “healing dad.”

So I bet Blink isn’t just anyone either—he’s probably a dark horse ready to shine.

You people are so fickle. You were all trash-talking them before the match, and now you’re acting like devoted fans?

Polaris doesn’t need your commentary. Whether you say it or not, they’re strong, period.

While Rainbow’s entire squad was collectively fuming, the mood in Polaris’s camp was lively and full of cheer.

“I’m telling you, shorty,” Zhou Yanjun said, wagging his chubby index finger with the authority of a veteran, “you’ll get used to this soon enough. The first one to die in a match is never the one Zero tells you to focus fire on. That cunning bastard never misses a chance to ambush people.”

“How is that my fault?” Lin Mingfei rolled his eyes lazily, his tone sharp with mockery. “Strawberry came running up to me and practically headbutted my face—what, I’m supposed to not take free delivery?”

He paused, then smiled slyly, his expression flipping like a stage mask.

“But Xia Tong’s HP control was steady as ever.”

Zhou Yanjun: “??? You didn’t see me pounding Rainbow’s Xiong Huang into the ground early game?! And what about Bo Yu?” He grabbed Bo Yu and dragged him over. “Between the two of us—”

Bo Yu cut in coolly: “—Our combined damage was still lower than Xia Tong’s alone.”

Zhou Yanjun: “???”

Lin Mingfei: “At least Bo Yu’s honest and objective.”

Zhou Yanjun: “…”

Shi Ya spread his hands and said, “This reminds me of a proverb.”

Zhou Yanjun’s face was blank. “Don’t say it. I know—it’s ‘asking for humiliation.’”

Xia Tong rubbed his toe against the floor in embarrassment, mumbling, “Not really… It’s just that Zero created such a good window for me to deal damage. I just performed normally, that’s all.”

Zhou Yanjun: “…The more you talk, the madder I get.”

Xia Tong quickly added, “But Fatty made a huge contribution too! If you hadn’t pinned down their healer early, he would’ve been healing freely, not panicking like that!”

That appeased Zhou Yanjun instantly; he puffed up his chest proudly. “Now that’s more like it…”

“I think our setup worked really well,” Bo Yu said quietly. “At the start, Xia Tong and Shi-ge just avoided taking damage. Once the opponents burned their bursts, Xia Tong coordinated with Fire and me to suppress their HP, and Zero went in for the kill.”

“I agree! We had such great synergy!” Xia Tong said, clenching his fists in excitement. Then he suddenly dashed over to Lin Mingfei’s side, turned into a clingy little gremlin, and nuzzled his arm while whining softly,

“Zero, when I saw Strawberry pin you to the ground just now, my heart really hurt…”

Lin Mingfei: “…”

Something about that sentence just didn’t sound right—it felt… oddly suggestive.

And he wasn’t the only one who thought so.

Zhou Yanjun wrinkled his nose. “Why does that sound so dirty?”

Shi Ya covered his mouth, giggling nonstop.

“What the hell are you laughing at?” Lin Mingfei snapped irritably.

“N-nothing,” Shi Ya said, waving his hands but still chuckling. “I was just picturing the scene again… and realizing you might actually have a soft, vulnerable side—”

Bo Yu’s description was more blunt: “Boy on top of boy?”

“Shut up,” Lin Mingfei said flatly. “Please keep your imagination to yourselves. Just remember: I blew him up.”

“By the way—” Xia Tong suddenly looked like he’d remembered something, tilting his head up. “That move just now… didn’t Dylan use it before?”

“Dylan did use it, yes—during the finals of last year’s King’s Tomb League,” Shi Ya said, restraining his smile and speaking seriously.

“See? See? I knew I remembered correctly!” Xia Tong said. “Your move is way more stable than Dylan’s!”

Lin Mingfei chuckled softly, saying nothing. Instead, Zhou Yanjun quickly interjected: “Well, that’s nothing—this move was originally invented by Zero!”

“Two years ago, when we first cleared the White Snow Dungeon, Zero used this move to take down Robin King flawlessly,” Shi Ya explained more precisely than Zhou Yanjun. “I guess that’s when Dylan first got a glimpse of the light.”

They were still in the game, chatting casually as if it were small talk, without turning off the livestream. Everything they said was clearly heard by the viewers, sparking controversy.

[Chat comments:]

Close-range triple snipes were invented by Zero??? What did I just hear?

No way… are they starting drama again?

Getting cocky… and dragging Dylan down, too. Nice one.

Can we just play the match without this nonsense? My heart can’t handle it.

They just defeated a top-four team… Rainbow is really just a team that occasionally gets lucky.

Zero’s seniority far exceeds Dylan’s, this could totally be true.

Two years ago, Saber Tiger did raid Polaris in the White Snow Dungeon, right? And they were wiped by Zero.

You said “heard”? So there’s no proof?

Emmm… two years ago, hard to verify.

I admire Zero, but he just fired one shot… Dylan can hit three in a row, right?

Don’t even mention Dylan—that was pure luck, three shots all hit.

You upstairs are such a fanboy.

Three blind sniper shots all hit? If I had Dylan’s luck, I wouldn’t play professionally—I’d buy lottery tickets instead.

The chat erupted: arguing, sarcastic remarks, serious analysis—all of it mixed together, driving the livestream’s popularity through the roof. The debate about the origin of the “close-range triple snipe” quickly spread to the official forums, and unsurprisingly, reached the eyes of Saber Tiger’s diehard fans.

The global showdown had quietly begun.

When the meme “Dylan hitting three shots in a row—is he really esports lucky?” spread on the King’s Tomb world channel, Dylan could no longer sit still. He was the only one who knew the truth, and he hated anyone bringing it up.

Every time someone asked about the triple-snipe details, he felt like standing on a thin scab of freshly dried blood, about to burst open, spraying blood everywhere uncontrollably.

“Damn,” Goblin snorted when he saw the chaos on the world channel. “So only Zero can do the close-range triple snipe? How arrogant is their team?”

“To me, it’s Rainbow’s fault,” Mo Lan said coldly. “How did they just randomly lose to them? Don’t even know how last year’s top four got there—deserved the scolding.”

Dylan stayed silent.

Goblin laughed foolishly: “Hey D, you didn’t just get lucky hitting all three shots, right? If you did, your title as ‘Esports Lucky Star’ is well-deserved.”

“Shut your damn mouth!” Dylan suddenly roared. “Did you borrow that mouth from someone and have to return it immediately? Too many words!”

He spoke harshly; his mood had been volatile lately. Goblin’s expression changed slightly in annoyance, and he opened his mouth to argue, but Robin King and YoYo held him back. They exchanged a glance, silently warning him he was in a sensitive period—if he caused trouble, he might be replaced. Goblin swallowed hard and gave up.
