Chapter 11
Yu Su thought he heard a sigh but wasn’t quite sure.
Chi Yanxing grasped Yu Su’s wrist and gently pulled his hands away. Yu Su froze for a moment, feeling a wave of disappointment.
This alpha was so hard to please.
Unexpectedly, Chi Yanxing returned shortly with a large towel.
Yu Su blinked, watching him unfold the towel and drape it over his head.
Instantly, everything went dark.
“Chi Yanxing?”
“Dry your hair.”
When Yu Su hurriedly yanked the towel off, the alpha was already gone.
The door clicked shut as Chi Yanxing left the room.
Yu Su held the towel in both hands and halfheartedly rubbed his hair. “So, is he still mad or not? Ugh, men. So unpredictable.”
–
Outside the door, Chi Yanxing rubbed his temples, clearing his mind of imagined scenarios of potential accidents. Instead, he let his thoughts wander to Yu Su’s exquisite face.
It worked, somewhat. Three steps down the hallway, his mind replayed Yu Su’s teasing words in that lilting voice.
[“Chi Yanxing—look at me. Just look, and you won’t be angry anymore~”]
“Dangerous omega.”
Two sentences nearly unraveled years of rigorous self-discipline.
–
The next morning, the household’s butler had prepared a lavish breakfast spread, including freshly made fish soup. Yet, only one person came downstairs.
“Sir?”
Chi Yanxing nodded.
“And Mr. Yu?”
“Still asleep.”
“Oh… and all this breakfast?” The butler glanced worriedly at the full table.
“Leave it. He has quite the appetite.”
The butler chuckled. “Well, eating well is a blessing. Are you heading to the office today?”
Chi Yanxing placed a file on the table. “Yes. Have the driver ready in ten minutes.”
The butler nodded but couldn’t help adding, “Sir, you should try to finish work early today. Don’t stay too late.”
Chi Yanxing paused briefly. “Understood. I’ll try. By the way, one more thing—”
The butler leaned in slightly.
“From now on, anything sent to the house should be placed in the study on the second floor, not brought up to the third.”
“Understood.”
The butler hesitated for a moment before saying, “Sir, last night I thought I heard Mr. Yu mentioning he wanted to follow you everywhere…”
What if he wakes up and starts crying because he doesn’t see you? Omegas are sensitive creatures, and this one is particularly delicate.
Chi Yanxing set his chopsticks down. “Do you really think I’d parade a perfectly matched omega around for others to ogle?”
The butler instantly fell silent. He’d forgotten how possessive and domineering top-tier alphas could be. It was almost frightening.
Chi Yanxing suddenly lost his appetite. He stood and took his coat from the butler.
“When he’s done with breakfast, show him around the villa. As long as it doesn’t harm his health, let him do as he pleases.”
“Yes, sir.”
–
The soft morning sunlight blended with the gentle breeze, creating a calm and pleasant atmosphere.
Yu Su murmured groggily, rolled over, and woke up facing the fluttering sheer curtains of the small balcony.
The wheelchair was placed near the bed, within easy reach.
“What time is it?”
“Ten o’clock.” A slightly mechanical voice answered.
Yu Su froze. “Who’s talking?”
“Me.”
Turning his head, he spotted a small robot sitting on the nightstand.
“…Did Chi Yanxing send you?”
The robot didn’t respond, seemingly awaiting a specific command. Yu Su tried a different approach.
“Who is Chi Yanxing?”
“That’s my super cool and handsome big boss, hehe.”
The robot’s display screen suddenly showed two heart-shaped eyes.
Yu Su: “…”
That “hehe” felt oddly alive. Whoever designed this must be a die-hard fan of Chi Yanxing.
Deciding to end the chat unilaterally, Yu Su got up and moved himself into his wheelchair before heading to the bathroom to freshen up.
Once he tidied himself up, Yu Su opened the door and rolled out. The wooden railing of the spiral staircase, made from the same material, was hollow, giving him a clear view of the delectable spread on the dining table downstairs.
Yu Su’s eyes lit up, completely forgetting about Chi Yanxing for the moment.
The elevator dinged as it arrived on the ground floor, and Uncle He had just finished reheating the fish soup and placing it on the dining table.
“Mr. Yu, you’re up? Just in time for breakfast,” Uncle He said casually, as if this wasn’t the second breakfast being served.
Yu Su quickly wheeled himself toward the fish soup. “Smells so good! I can smell fish!”
“Yes, this is specially made milk fish soup for you,” the butler replied with a smile.
Without another word, Yu Su maneuvered himself in front of the milk fish soup. Uncle He thoughtfully handed him a small silver spoon. “After breakfast, I’ll take you on a tour of the villa.”
Yu Su, spoon in hand, absentmindedly hummed in agreement.
The butler hesitated, deciding against mentioning the seemingly forgotten Mr. Chi for now.
After breakfast, Yu Su felt completely awake. His mood was visibly cheerful and rosy. As Uncle He pushed him outside, Yu Su was still debating whether to have small yellow fish or carp for lunch.
The butler, trying to keep up with his young charge’s train of thought, replied patiently to every question, even as his mind wondered if he was falling behind with age.
“Ah, what’s that?” Yu Su suddenly exclaimed.
Uncle He looked ahead and explained, “That’s the villa’s swimming pool. You might not have noticed it last night. It’s right below your and Mr. Chi’s balcony.”
Yu Su stopped letting the butler push him and wheeled himself forward.
Uncle He watched nervously. “Mr. Yu, be careful!”
“I’ll be fine,” Yu Su replied as he quickly approached the poolside. “Uncle He, how deep is this pool?”
“About three to five meters, I think. It’s been a while since it was built, so I don’t remember exactly,” the butler replied.
Yu Su bent down slightly, wanting to flick the water, but the butler blocked him with his arm.
“Be careful, Mr. Yu. I’ll drain the water soon.”
“Ah? Why drain it?”
“It’s too dangerous for you. Even if I don’t do it, Mr. Chi will definitely order it drained when he gets back this afternoon,” the butler said, subtly reminding Yu Su about Chi Yanxing again.
Yu Su puffed his cheeks in dissatisfaction. “Fine… but if—just if—I’m able to stand up one day, can we refill the pool?”
The butler hesitated.
Yu Su pressed on, “Please, Uncle He! Pretty please—”
The butler relented. “Alright, but I’ll still need to get Mr. Chi’s approval.”
Finally, Yu Su’s brain seemed to click. He asked, “Speaking of Chi Yanxing, I didn’t see him when I woke up. Where is he?”
The butler was so moved he nearly teared up. “Mr. Chi left for the office early this morning.”
He even emphasized the words “early this morning.”
Yu Su frowned. “So busy?”
He’s still recovering, yet he’s busier than me, Yu Su thought.
The butler nodded. “Indeed.”
“When will he be back?”
“Probably this afternoon.”
Yu Su acknowledged with an “Oh” and then added, “Make sure to save half of my small yellow fish for him.” After all, health is the foundation of productivity.
With that, he continued wheeling himself around for the tour.
The butler was left stunned. That’s it? No more concern? No heartwarming call to check in?
Yu Su looked as nonchalant as a scoundrel, as if last night’s declaration of “I want to be with you always” was just a throwaway line.
Yet that one line had made Mr. Chi smile—an exceptionally rare occurrence!
The butler, feeling slightly disillusioned, trailed after Yu Su, questioning whether their roles as a top-tier alpha and a fragile omega had somehow reversed.
After completing the villa tour, Yu Su had lunch and started feeling a sense of emptiness, as if something was missing. He wheeled himself upstairs for a nap but came back down shortly after.
The butler watched him move back and forth and asked, “Mr. Yu, is something the matter?”
Yu Su looked puzzled. “Not really. It just feels like… something’s missing.”
The excitement of exploring the human world had worn off by noon, leaving Yu Su longing for the ocean he had left behind. The more he thought about it, the more he questioned why he had come here in the first place. Shouldn’t he have fought harder to stay by the sea? If he’d put up a fuss, perhaps he could’ve found a way back home. Why had he impulsively followed Chi Yanxing?
Chi Yanxing… Chi Yan—!
Yu Su’s heart skipped a beat. He turned his wheelchair abruptly and called out, “Uncle He!”
“Yes, Mr. Yu?” the butler responded quickly.
Yu Su spoke rapidly, “Can I call Chi Yanxing?”
The butler was momentarily stunned but quickly replied, “Of course! Let me dial for you.”
“Yes, please!”
–
The Chi family controlled nearly half of the industries in this prosperous coastal city. From real estate, which held the largest market share, to healthcare, which dealt with everyone’s pheromone issues, almost every major and minor company had the Chi family’s shadow behind it. Either they were shareholders, or they were majority shareholders. Dig deeper, and one name would always surface—Chi Yanxing.
A top-tier alpha with supernatural pheromones.
“I heard the big boss is back at work today?” someone whispered while swiveling in their chair.
Another person replied, “Seems like it. He went straight to the top floor, and all the department heads were called up for a meeting this morning. It’s been, what, three hours now?”
“Tsk, terrifying. That’s why being a small employee has its perks—you don’t have to face the boss’s pheromones directly.”
“Even so, being able to see the boss’s god-like face up close, even if it’s intimidating, is totally worth it… That kind of alpha is like every omega’s dream match. Just thinking about it makes my legs go weak—”
“Wake up, friend. How many drinks have you had? Are you trying to throw your life away?”
The speaker sighed. “Can’t I daydream a little? Aren’t even the wealthy omegas in Haicheng eyeing him too?”
Once the gossip started, it was hard to stop. “Do you know about the young master of the Xu family who has a 60% compatibility rate with the boss? He’s just waiting for the medical department to release a new injection. Rumor has it the boss went on vacation this time because of pheromone issues. If he doesn’t find a compatible omega to bond with soon, even the injections won’t be able to suppress the overwhelming alpha presence!”
“So now the Xu family is acting all high and mighty, as if waiting for the boss to come begging and squeezing out a few big projects in the process. Shameless!”
A girl with large glasses tapped furiously on her keyboard. “That stuck-up little white lotus from the Xu family? Forget it. He’s not even half as good-looking as the boss. In my opinion, the boss’s spouse should be someone soft and cute, the kind who tilts their face up and calls him ‘Yanxing-gege’~.”
“Ugh—” The office erupted in exaggerated groans of agreement.
Meanwhile, the “Yanxing-gege” they imagined didn’t have a chance to hear these speculations. While Housekeeper He was dialing Chi Yanxing’s number under Yu Su’s eager gaze, the CEO himself was slamming a proposal onto the meeting table.
“I hope you’re worth the high salaries you’re being paid. Redo it.”
The room fell silent. One person discreetly wiped the table with a tissue before cautiously placing their papers back.
As the tense atmosphere thickened, Chi Yanxing’s phone began vibrating incessantly on the table. He glanced at it, frowned, and walked out of the meeting room.
A manager whispered, “Um… Should we remind the boss? His phone is still connected to the meeting screen…”
Everyone shot him a look that said, “You’re a brave soul.” The person immediately shut up.
“Say less, live longer.”
Meanwhile, Yu Su was staring anxiously at Housekeeper He, who, overwhelmed by the omega’s hopeful gaze, said warmly, “Don’t worry, Mr. Yu. The master is probably busy—”
Before he could finish, the call was answered. Chi Yanxing’s deep voice, tinged with slight irritation, came through. “It’s me. What’s wrong, Yu Su?”

Author’s Note:
Little Fish calls: “Yanxing-gege~”
Chi Yanxing hangs up: “Sorry, everyone. My spouse’s phone must have been stolen.”
Little Fish calls again: “Chi! Yan! Xing!”
Chi Yanxing answers: “Ah, this must be my spouse.”
