Ch 8: When the Merman Turns Into a Disabled O

Chapter 8

“Broken the record?” Chi Yanxing turned around, his long trench coat forming a striking angle. “Ninety percent?”

Wen Bie glanced at him over his glasses. “Do you need to lean on the wall for a moment?”

Chi Yanxing’s gaze became dangerous, and Wen Bie had to quickly say, “Alright, alright, I was just joking. You’re already with an Omega, and you’re still so unkind.”

Unable to tolerate Wen Bie’s teasing, Chi Yanxing directly grabbed the report from him. After flipping through a few pages of basic data, he casually said, “You should find an Alpha for yourself.”

Wen Bie chuckled but didn’t respond, and he was satisfied when Chi Yanxing turned to the last page.

“How does it look? Surprised? It’s a super pairing, a once-in-a-decade kind of gene match.”

Chi Yanxing lowered his eyes, and for a moment, a damp, moist sensation seemed to brush across his face. He spoke slowly, “It really is…”

“It really is one hundred percent. Looks like Mr. Chi already had a feeling,” Wen Bie’s expression became serious. He glanced at Yu Su, who was practicing controlling the wheelchair not far away. “This Omega and you are truly a natural pair. He can smell your pheromones, and similarly, probably only you can stir his desires.”

“What do you mean?” Chi Yanxing suddenly raised his eyes.

“The little guy you picked up—he’s not just having some issues with his legs, but his glands are also hidden deeper than the average Omega,” Wen Bie explained.

“Think about it. With such a perfect match, have you ever actually smelled his pheromones?”

Chi Yanxing froze. “I thought he wasn’t in heat…”

An Omega who isn’t in heat generally doesn’t release pheromones; otherwise, society would be in chaos.

“Luckily, he wasn’t in heat,” Wen Bie looked a bit nervous, “Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here to check on his legs, you’d be here to deal with the damage from a forced marking. It’s not that I don’t trust you, but a one hundred percent match is no joke. Whether it’s you or him, you both naturally exude a fatal attraction toward each other.”

Wen Bie pointed to a line of data on the test report. “Especially you, Mr. Chi. Since you reached adulthood, you’ve been suppressing your pheromones with injections. Now that you’ve found an Omega who can help regulate them, if you can control yourself during future temporary markings, I’d really have to give you a sincere compliment.”

Chi Yanxing thought about how Yu Su, who was even reluctant to be bitten, had reacted. He couldn’t help but think that the “special remedy” wouldn’t last as long as he had hoped.

It seemed the agreement still had to be set in stone.

Chi Yanxing’s mind flashed through various clauses and conditions.

“One more thing. Here’s the suppressant I prepared for him. Even though during special times, you should be around him, better safe than sorry,” Wen Bie said as he pulled out a sealed packet with needles from his white coat.

Just then, Yu Su, who was still practicing controlling the wheelchair, slid over. The moment he saw the items in Wen Bie’s hands, his face changed, and he anxiously said, “Didn’t you say Chi Yanxing doesn’t need injections? What’s this?”

Chi Yanxing’s heart skipped a beat, sensing something was off, but before he could intervene, Wen Bie held out the suppressant to Yu Su. “Sweetheart, this isn’t for Mr. Chi, this is for you.”

Yu Su’s face turned pale in an instant.

Wen Bie hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from him. He quickly retracted his hand and whispered to the Alpha beside him, “Your Omega doesn’t still faint at the sight of needles, does he? How did he manage before?”

Chi Yanxing: “…”

You’re asking me, who should I ask?

He quickly raised his hand to turn the wheelchair around, then reached from behind to cover Yu Su’s eyes, whispering, “Don’t look.”

Wen Bie: “…”

And this is still the agreement? Who are you kidding? It’s only a matter of time before it becomes ‘true love.’

After sending the big boss and his little Omega off, Wen Bie returned to the consultation room. He sat behind the desk and took a closer look at Yu Su’s original report. “So strange. This is the first time I’ve seen glands buried so deeply, and he can’t even walk. Still so naïve, he really seems like a gift from heaven that Chi Yanxing hasn’t unwrapped yet.”

But those were problems for the big boss to worry about. Wen Bie opened the drawer in front of him, placed the report inside, and then took out his phone to type a few lines.

“Clocking out, time to arrange some fun.”

He took the elevator down.

Yu Su, still protesting, said, “Chi Yanxing, I’m not taking any injections.”

He was afraid of fish with spikes in the sea, let alone a needle that was a hundred times sharper than a spiky fish.

Chi Yanxing silently stood in the elevator for a moment. “It’s just a backup option.”

Yu Su looked up at him, his beautiful blue eyes round and innocent. “Then what else? Is there anything else that can stop the Omega heat?”

The elevator dinged as it reached the bottom floor. Chi Yanxing, standing behind him, said casually, “Then your only option is me.”

Let me bite you, it works better than any suppressant.

Without hesitation, Yu Su answered, “Then I choose you.”

Chi Yanxing seemed to smile, though Yu Su couldn’t be sure. He casually added, “Omega’s always carry suppressants with them. If you don’t want the injection, you’ll have to stick with me. Follow me wherever I go. Is that acceptable?”

“Why not? I really like your scent!”

Housekeeper He had just stepped forward when he overheard this. He quickly bowed his head and retreated into the shadows. Sure enough, Yu Su didn’t notice and continued, “Here, only your pheromones can offer me any comfort.”

Chi Yanxing suddenly coughed, and Yu Su looked at him in confusion.

The tall and imposing alpha appeared somewhat uncomfortable as he said in a low voice, “Yu Su, maintain your composure in public.”

The first day of entering human society passed amidst a packed schedule. By the time the car pulled into the hillside villa, it was already dark outside.

Yu Su’s eyes, which could see in the depths of the sea, were useless in the dark of night. He only knew that the car kept going upward, as if the road had no end. Exhaustion and discomfort started creeping in.

“Chi Yanxing.”

Chi Yanxing turned his head slightly.

Every time Yu Su called his name, there was always a nasal tone, and the last syllable of “Xing” was drawn out. At first, Chi Yanxing found it a bit unsettling, thinking this omega was deliberately trying to tease him. But after hearing it more often, he realized Yu Su’s voice was simply too pleasant. Even calling Uncle He sounded more delicate coming from him—this was just basic functionality for Yu Su.

Yu Su continued, “How much longer till we arrive?”

Chi Yanxing frowned. “About ten more minutes.”

Yu Su coughed twice, feeling his throat burning. He reached up to tug at his collar. “Um… I’m a bit thirsty.”

The driver discreetly pressed down on the accelerator, and even Housekeeper He turned around. “Mr. Yu, please bear with it. We’re almost there.”

Because of his master’s unique pheromones, they had purchased a villa in the mid-levels for seclusion. While it made things more convenient for the master, it was undeniably far.

“I… cough, cough!” Yu Su coughed softly. Ten minutes? He wasn’t even sure he could last three.

Chi Yanxing’s brows remained furrowed as he checked his watch, his expression subtly tense and urgent.

The moment Yu Su stepped onto land, his tail had transformed into legs. He didn’t understand the principle behind it or when his tail would return. But in his current state, the water he drank during the day was far from enough for a mermaid.

Having lived in the sea for twenty years, Yu Su was accustomed to being enveloped by water and surviving under varying pressures. Now, exposed to air and dryness, he hadn’t been near water for almost two days.

The initial excitement of meeting humans had worn off, and Yu Su was starting to feel the discomfort of life on land. His slender fingers gripped the car’s handle tightly as he struggled to suppress the rejection his body felt.

Seeing this, Chi Yanxing said, “Drive faster.”

The driver quickly responded, “Yes, sir.”

Yu Su didn’t hear clearly through his discomfort, only seeing Chi Yanxing’s lips moving as though he was saying something. Then the car sped up, the buzzing of insects fading rapidly behind them.

When the car finally stopped in front of the villa, Yu Su felt more than just throat pain. A burning sensation crept up his neck, and the pulse at the back of his neck throbbed uncontrollably.

Chi Yanxing hadn’t said a word since earlier. Yu Su couldn’t see his expression clearly but felt the atmosphere in the car was oppressive—like the feeling before a sea storm.

Fortunately, the driver parked the car. After signaling to Chi Yanxing, he left for the night.

Chi Yanxing’s first words were to the housekeeper: “Bring a glass of water.”

Uncle He nodded and rushed off. Only then did Chi Yanxing get out of the car and push Yu Su, seat and all, out.

As Yu Su adjusted his perspective, a large, transparent glass of water appeared in front of him.

Chi Yanxing spoke concisely, “Drink.”

Holding the glass, Yu Su gulped down several mouthfuls in the villa’s yard before feeling slightly better.

“…This is your home?” he asked, squinting at the dark surroundings where only a few tree shadows swayed beyond the wall.

“Mm. Do you need more water?” Chi Yanxing asked.

Yu Su paused for a couple of seconds. Although he had drunk the water, he still felt dry and uncomfortable. Unsure how to explain, he simply said, “Not for now.”

He figured what he needed wasn’t water to drink but water to immerse himself in.

After Yu Su answered, Chi Yanxing pushed him into the living room.

By the time they entered, Uncle He had already turned on the lights. Yu Su looked around and thought this villa had more of a lived-in feel than the one by the sea. It was also taller, with a wooden spiral staircase winding up from one corner of the living room to the third floor. An indoor elevator stood beside it.

Chi Yanxing said, “From now on, you’ll live here. Your bedroom is next to mine.”

Yu Su turned his neck and rubbed the back of his neck, which had cooled slightly, before asking, “My… bedroom? Didn’t you say we’d live together?”

Shouldn’t we share the same room? Yu Su, the helpful little fish from the sea, glanced at the human man with concern. He had even composed lullabies to sing Chi Yanxing to sleep, ensuring he could get rid of his dependency on sleep aids.

As long as there were no injections involved, he was willing to do anything.

Chi Yanxing’s voice, already restrained, dropped another three tones. “Yes, I said live together—under the same roof.”

Not in the same bed.
