Chapter 27
Lin Mingfei and Shi Ya returned to the base one after another. However, when they arrived, no one came to greet them. Upon going upstairs, they saw the three of them happily surfing the internet in their cocoons.
He Youjin glanced at the time and immediately expressed his admiration for the bizarre schedule of these professional players. Lin Mingfei decided to show He Youjin their daily routine of aging internet-addicted teenagers. So, he and Shi Ya logged into the game.
As soon as they entered the game, they saw that a bunch of people who didn’t get along were all on the same map—the White Snow Tomb.
A place of great commemorative value, at a time of great commemorative value, to create something of great commemorative value.
Lin Mingfei immediately sensed something unusual and invited Zhou Yanjun to form a team. Zhou Yanjun quickly accepted, and he and Shi Ya rushed to the White Snow Tomb.
By coincidence, they arrived just in time to see the Sabertooth Tiger’s boss being pulled away in the exciting moment.
Xia Tong, amused by the “two birds with one stone” joke, laughed. The tears on his eyelashes sparkled and fell as he laughed, just as the two “silly birds” on the ground were revived. Xia Tong rubbed his eyes and said, “But why did they both fall down when you fired just one shot?”
If one of them hadn’t fallen, Xia Tong thought he might’ve been beaten. He couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous.
“Zero was trying out a new strategy.” Shi Ya, with his hands behind his head, said.
“I equipped an item with full penetration attributes, wanted to see how many people a sniper shot could hit.” Lin Mingfei said, “Fortunately, their positioning worked out, so… perfect.” He snapped his fingers confidently.
If Dylan had not clicked on the “revive” option in time and had instead heard Lin Mingfei’s excellent critique of their terrible positioning, he probably would have been so angry he’d spit blood.
“You’re so impressive, Brother,” Xia Tong said, clasping his hands into little fists in front of his chest, starry-eyed. “If you hadn’t made that ‘two birds with one stone’ move, I might have been torn apart by them!”
Lin Mingfei, taken aback by his sincere and sparkling gaze, felt a little embarrassed. He couldn’t help but clear his throat and cover his lips with a fist. “I… I’m not that amazing.”
“Yeah, yeah, could you two pay attention to my presence here? I’m also part of the team!” Shi Ya couldn’t resist interrupting. “Xia Xiaotong, with me here as the healer, it won’t be that easy for you to die.”
“Then Timer is impressive too.” Xia Tong nodded like a chick pecking at rice. “You’re all amazing, I love you! Mwah!” He made a little heart shape with his fingers and flashed a sweet smile.
The two Alphas immediately made expressions like they’d been struck by lightning.
“Eh?” Xia Tong thought, “Did I use the cat-ear girl’s heart-shape gesture incorrectly?”
Unexpectedly, the two Alphas quickly turned away and tried to act composed. Shi Ya pressed his fluttering heart, while Lin Mingfei touched his hot nose.
Damn, that was too cute, they both thought at the same time.
At this moment, Bo Yu and Zhou Yanjun rushed in from the dungeon entrance, both panting.
“Great! They still didn’t steal the boss!” Zhou Yanjun yelled angrily. “Just ran into those idiots from Sabertooth Tiger at the dungeon entrance! Should’ve had a good fight with them.”
“Where’s the boss?” Bo Yu asked.
“Pulled away!” Xia Tong waved his little arms.
“How was it pulled away?” Zhou Yanjun and Bo Yu both froze.
“It was me!” Xia Tong pointed at his nose, his face full of “please praise me.”
Zhou Yanjun stared at him for two seconds, then suddenly waved his hand. “Are you kidding? How could you steal aggro from Robin Wang?”
Xia Tong pouted, stomping his feet angrily. “It really was me!”
“He didn’t steal aggro,” Lin Mingfei patted Xia Tong’s head and rubbed it like a cat, calmly saying, “He used the control spell to directly pull Robin King out of the boundary.”
Zhou Yanjun’s jaw almost hit the floor. “WTF??”
Bo Yu, beside him, was also shocked. “How could Robin King be caught in Xia Tong’s control spell? Has he really gotten that bad?”
“Don’t jump to conclusions,” Lin Mingfei raised his chin. “Little Bo, go trigger the Emperor Ghost; we can just use this chance to practice fighting a boss.”
Bo Yu replied with an “oh” and obediently switched equipment and skills, rushing to open the monster.
Maybe due to fearing Lin Mingfei’s intimidating presence, Sabertooth Tiger didn’t try to provoke them again. Their boss fight went smoothly, and the atmosphere felt quite subtle. Former teammates were back fighting side by side, and their coordination seemed ingrained in their bones. Except for Xia Tong, none of them needed Lin Mingfei’s extra guidance. The Emperor Ghost’s cycle mechanism never triggered, and they fought through it in one go. The Emperor Ghost dropped a treasure chest.
“Wow, it’s a special effect weapon!” Zhou Yanjun and Bo Yu, who were standing close together, both shouted in surprise when they saw the item, then they turned their envious and jealous gazes toward Xia Tong.
Xia Tong, confused, asked, “What’s wrong?”
“The North River Scepter, for wizards,” Shi Ya leaned over to take a look and smiled, “I didn’t expect you to be so lucky, Xia Xia Tong!”
“Huh, is it my weapon?” Xia Tong asked, curious.
“Yeah! The special effect weapons here are on the same level as the regular weapons from the current mainstream dungeons,” Zhou Yanjun said, sounding a bit sour.
Xia Tong happily equipped the new staff that Lin Mingfei assigned to him. It was a large staff decorated with ice-blue crystals, and just a casual swing left a trail of glowing light behind it, looking magnificent and grand. Xia Tong loved it.
Zhou Yanjun, still beside him, lamented, “I ran this dungeon over twenty times back then and never got a special effect weapon! You just swing once and get one! We’re not the same!”
“Why are we not the same?” Xia Tong asked, confused.
“You’re lucky and I’m not!”
“What does ‘lucky’ mean?”
“It means like being European!”
“Does that mean I look pale?” Xia Tong pointed to himself with big doe-like eyes, exuding an innocent and harmless vibe.
Zhou Yanjun, feeling secondhand hurt, wiped his face, which wasn’t exactly pale, and grumbled, “…Don’t talk!”

After defeating the Emperor Ghost, it was already quite late. He Youjin had already fallen asleep in the living room. The group all logged off, too tired to ask who He Youjin was, and went straight to their bedrooms to wash up.
Lin Mingfei woke He Youjin up. He Youjin yawned and complained about their weird hours, saying he was going home and would come back tomorrow. Lin Mingfei squinted, “You’re not going to ditch me, right?”
“No way, no way,” He Youjin waved him off impatiently. “I love your team’s high spirits, you guys are bound to make big money.”
Lin Mingfei chuckled and rubbed his sore neck and shoulders before returning to his room.
He washed his face quickly and leaned on the edge of the sink, looking at himself in the mirror. His features were sharp and well-defined, droplets of water gathered along his strong jawline, falling one by one. He looked striking, yet his eyes seemed distant.
Everything was ready—he had even found the team manager—but they were still missing one teammate.
It seemed like there wasn’t much missing, but in reality, it was fatal. Without a full team, they couldn’t even sign up for the competition.
Where could he find a sharp wizard on such short notice?
After a whole day of running around, Lin Mingfei finally felt the weight of fatigue. Late at night, a sense of melancholy began to pull at him, and for a moment, he felt as though he was back two years ago, standing in the mourning hall of Lv Chaoran, enduring a gray and bleak baptism.
“You didn’t kill Bo Ren, but Bo Ren died because of you. Can this really be called no mistake?”
A drop of water slipped across his eye, blurring his vision. He froze for a moment, his pupils constricting in shock, and quickly grabbed a towel to wipe his eyes.
He opened the bathroom door and changed into loose pajamas, collapsing into his bed without bothering to pull up the blanket, and closed his eyes.
His eyes kept moving under his thin eyelids, and after a while, Lin Mingfei sat up again, furrowing his brows as he got out of bed and opened the drawer. He fumbled around in the drawer for a moment before pulling out a bottle of eye drops. Just then, there was a knock at his bedroom door.
“Who?” Lin Mingfei froze and asked in a low voice.
“Brother, I can’t find Debon,” Xia Tong’s soft voice came from the other side of the door, sounding timid.
Lin Mingfei got up and opened the door.
Xia Tong stood outside in a pale yellow nightgown, nervously rubbing his little hands. His chestnut-colored hair was slightly messy, hanging over his forehead, and his face looked delicate and elegant.
Does yellow really make one’s skin look so pale? Lin Mingfei thought to himself, his gaze lingering over Xia Tong’s slender neck, which appeared almost glowing white.
“You were sleeping here before, did you lose him here?” Lin Mingfei was too tired and absent-mindedly ran a hand through his hair, stepping aside. “Come in and look for him.”
Once Xia Tong cheerfully hopped into the room, Lin Mingfei belatedly realized that letting an Omega into his bedroom in the middle of the night might not be entirely appropriate, but it was too late. Xia Tong had already jumped onto his bed without hesitation.
“Debon!” Xia Tong accurately found the small pink robot under a pillow and happily hugged it, rubbing it affectionately. “Debon, why haven’t you been talking to me?”
“It probably ran out of battery,” Lin Mingfei said as he saw Xia Tong had found the robot. He felt somewhat relieved, but with Xia Tong in the room, he didn’t feel comfortable immediately lying down to sleep. He stifled a yawn and sat at the desk, picking up the bottle of eye drops again.
“Brother, is your eye bothering you?” Xia Tong sat on the bed, tilting his head in a cute and obedient way, his voice gentle. He used to take eye drops often at the Zheng family to prevent myopia.
Lin Mingfei gave a vague “mm” and opened the eye drops, but before he could even refuse, Xia Tong had already hurried over, taking the bottle and saying seriously, “Brother, let me do it for you!”
Lin Mingfei was momentarily stunned, but before he could protest, the bottle was already in Xia Tong’s hands. Xia Tong stood above him, and Lin Mingfei, sitting down, looked up at the little Omega, who tiptoed and gently pressed his fingers to his eyelids.
“Don’t be scared, don’t be scared!” Xia Tong whispered softly as he carefully pulled Lin Mingfei’s eyelids open. “It’ll be over quickly.”
Lin Mingfei was speechless. He wondered why something as simple as putting in eye drops felt so strange.
But he accepted the service gratefully.
The cold drops settled on his eyes and spread out. He winced slightly and closed his eyes, furrowing his brow.
“I’ll blow on it for you!” Xia Tong seemed a little concerned, and leaned in closer, cupping Lin Mingfei’s face and gently exhaling.
The heart of the Alpha skipped a beat.
It felt as though a feather had brushed over his brow and eyelids, tickling him, carrying with it a faintly sweet osmanthus fragrance. The sensations stirred something in his chest, and a fire seemed to spread from there down through his body.
Lin Mingfei didn’t open his eyes. His mind was overwhelmed with images and sounds, intense and ambiguous. He uneasily shifted his neck, trying to create distance, but the button on his pajama collar popped open.
“Brother…” Xia Tong suddenly spoke up. Lin Mingfei heard him clearly swallow, the sound of it audible.
Just as Lin Mingfei was worried that Xia Tong might be panicking because he sensed something, the little Omega sincerely remarked:
“You have such a good body.”
“…?”
