Chapter 15
Although Shi Ya hadn’t participated in any eSports competitions for over a year, he had still been playing games and streaming regularly. Being a handsome guy, his fanbase only continued to grow. Due to his numerous rumored romantic entanglements with beautiful women, he earned the nickname “Young Master Shi, who exhausts himself for the influencer world.” Whenever he entered a live stream, the viewership would instantly skyrocket, as everyone was eager to watch the gossip and drama unfold.
But this time, everyone felt that the livestream recommended by Young Master Shi was a bit off.
The bullet comments flooded the screen with question marks.
[Why is it a boy today?]
[What’s the background? A forest? Is this an outdoor survival stream?]
[Hey! But he’s so cute, still the high-appearance type of streamer Timer likes most.]
[Young Master Shi, the arsonist of hearts, has expanded his business scope again.]
[Eyelashes, oh my, this little treasure has such long eyelashes!]
[Hey, pretty little thing, what’s your relationship with Timer? [dog face]]
[How does Timer always find these rare flowers in the human world?]
[Little cutie, I’m following you now! Please stream more!]
[I declare I have a new favorite! Pretty little one, Mama loves you! Muah!]
[Handsome little guy, say something! Don’t just blink! If you talk, I’ll send you a cruise ship!]
Thanks to Young Master Shi, the viewer count in Xia Tong’s livestream soared like a rocket.
Then Xia Tong lifted the large plum from Bo Yu iin his hand.
[??? Is this a livestream for selling products???]
[Such a cute boy, wouldn’t cosmetics be a better fit for him?]
[Hahaha, I can’t stop laughing!]
[Baby, at least take a bite! This is so unprofessional!]
Seeing the bullet comments, Xia Tong, eager to please, lifted the large plum and took a bite.
Then he was instantly overwhelmed by the sourness.
This is what they call a live-stream disaster, and it’s happening in full force.
The bullet comments flooded the screen:
[Hahahaha]
[Hahahahaha this is too funny!]
[I’m laughing so hard, my mom ran out of the kitchen to hit me!]
[Fatal sweetness, hahahaha, this plum looks so sweet!]
[How could there be such a cute, clueless product seller?!]
[Baby, you’re too dedicated, your little face is all wrinkled!]
[Spit it out! This plum might be poisonous!]
[I’m following you now, sweetie! Hahaha, Auntie will send you money, can you buy something else to eat instead?]
[Reverse sales genius!! Who dares not to say it’s impressive!!]
Shi Ya: “…”
This might be the most disastrous live stream that Young Master Shi has ever recommended. He suddenly regretted hitting that share button earlier.
No! Must! Not! Look!
On the other side, Bo Yu was also startled. He rushed into the frame, snatching the large plum from Xia Tong’s hand and took a bite himself.
“Ugh, ugh,” he almost spit it out, embarrassed. “This isn’t ripe, it’s not ripe! Spit it out!”
Xia Tong was tearfully sobbing, “But I already swallowed it… Wuwu…”
Bo Yu was at a loss. “I’ll go get some water for you to rinse your mouth.”
The bullet comments were coming in so thick that the server was nearly crashing.
[Hahahaha, this farmer boy is also so handsome!]
[Are all handsome guys this goofy now?? Hahahahaha!]
[Don’t throw the plum! I’ll buy it! Just say a few more words, hahahaha!]
[Hurry up and find water for our baby, look at his face, it’s so sour!]
[I paid for the plum, so go get water for my baby to rinse his mouth!! Hurry up!!]
[Am I the only one who thinks this farmer boy looks familiar?]
[Holy crap! Is this Island from the Polaris team?!]
[Don’t guess! Be confident! This is Island!! Island!! The number one Axe Warrior in the national server!]
[What happened?? How did Island become a comedian??]
Bo Yu no longer had the energy to read the bullet comments. He had no idea why the plum was so sour. Maybe something went wrong in the farming process. In fact, it wasn’t the first time things went wrong during his farming days. The straight-talking little Omega in front of him, eyes full of tears, looking as if he was about to cry, was making him nervous. He simply picked up Xia Tong and started running back.
“Put me down! Put me down, cough, cough, cough!”
After running just a few steps, Xia Tong was jostled around. An SUV rushed to a stop, blocking the road. The window rolled down, and Lin Mingfei and Shi Ya poked their heads out, one on each side.
“Timer?! Captain?!” Thin Yu was startled, stepping back and accidentally stepping into a ditch.
Xia Tong was still hanging on his shoulder. His little head suddenly tilted downward, thinking he was about to be thrown into the ditch, and screamed, kicking his legs: “Zero!! Brother Lin!! Help me, ahhh!”
This scene looked like a kidnapping ransom exchange, so touching it almost hurt. Shi Ya rushed to reach out, “Xiao Bo! Calm down!”
Before Bo Yu could speak, Lin Mingfei kicked the car door open with a “bang.”
“Calm down, my ass!”
Shi Ya couldn’t help but pinch the bridge of his nose.
It had been a long time since Lin Mingfei had gotten so angry in public. He was probably just lazy, so he created a false image of being “calm” to cover up the fact that Lin Mingfei’s temper isn’t any better than Zhou Yanjun’s, but when he’s mad, he’s definitely more ruthless than Zhou Yanjun.
Lin Mingfei lifted Xia Tong and set him on the ground. Xia Tong, still shaken, patted his chest, and saw Lin Mingfei coldly staring at Bo Yu. Then, Lin Mingfei slapped the back of Bo Yu’s head.
“Running away? Still running away? With your farming skills, do you really think you can earn the club’s money? I’ll chop off your head and kick it like a ball!”
Bo Yu held his head in silence.
Xia Tong pulled on Lin Mingfei’s sleeve, “Brother, you don’t have to go that far…”
“Shut up.” Lin Mingfei glared at him harshly, his gaze sharp.
Xia Tong pouted, feeling wronged, but didn’t say anything.
Lin Mingfei fished around in his jacket pocket and pulled out a chocolate ball wrapped in foil. His voice was low and restrained, “Open your mouth.”
Xia Tong obediently opened wide.
Lin Mingfei unwrapped the foil with his fingers and placed the chocolate ball with nuts inside Xia Tong’s mouth, holding his chin to close it. Then he tapped Xia Tong’s nose, “There, eat the chocolate. I’ll deal with my team members. You don’t need to interrupt.”
The milk chocolate was smooth and sweet, and the almond bits were crunchy and fragrant, dissipating the sour taste in his mouth. Xia Tong chewed happily, his mood brightening as if the clouds had parted to reveal the moon. He nodded with a smile.
“Don’t just stand there, get in the car and wait. We wouldn’t want those two to start fighting and accidentally hurt you,” Shi Ya laughed, extending his arm from the window and patting the door.
Xia Tong still had some concern about Bo Yu. He stepped out and back again, mumbling, “Actually, that…”
Lin Mingfei squinted suddenly. His eyelids were usually half-lidded, making him appear indifferent, but now his eyebrows raised slightly, and the edges of his eyes sharpened, showing clear signs of displeasure.
Xia Tong immediately felt his gaze gripping him tightly. He licked his dry lips, his heart racing.
Lin Mingfei bent down and pinched his delicate little face, rubbing it maliciously. “Didn’t you come out with me to take care of business? So whose side are you on now?”
“Of course, I’m on your side!” Xia Tong couldn’t even speak clearly as he was being rubbed.
The little Omega’s face was soft and tender, like white clay, able to be molded into various shapes between fingers. Lin Mingfei was reluctant to let go. “You sleep in my bed, eat my food, but you don’t listen to me?”
“I do, I do,” Xia Tong gave up trying to fight back. He struggled backwards, attempting to escape Lin Mingfei’s grasp, and when Lin Mingfei let go, he hurriedly dashed into the SUV, stumbling as he went.
Bo Yu, who had thought Xia Tong would be scolded, watched his retreating figure for a few seconds and secretly sighed in relief, then turned his attention to Lin Mingfei.
Lin Mingfei raised his sharply defined chin, using his intense gaze to assess him.
“Why didn’t you sign with a club?”
If Bo Yu had still been thinking of running when he saw Zhou Yanjun earlier, now, in front of his former captain, even without the overwhelming pressure of pheromones, he couldn’t help but feel intimidated.
“Sorry, my mindset was off. I rejected Manager Du’s offer… My family ran into some trouble, and our land and house were mortgaged. I urgently needed money. Also, after you left, we didn’t perform well in the next few matches, and the transfer fees Du Yong reported kept dropping. I just…”
Lin Mingfei looked slightly enlightened.
“Alright, you don’t need to explain, I get it,” he exhaled lightly. “If anyone owes anyone an apology, it’s me.”
“It’s okay, Captain,” Bo Yu said softly, “staying or leaving is everyone’s choice. I was too weak, too dependent on this environment.” He felt a surge of warmth and blurted out his thoughts: “I haven’t played games for a year. You can find better axe fighters. Don’t feel like you have to consider our old bond to find me… I don’t want to delay you.”
“We’re looking for you because you’re valuable, nothing else.” Lin Mingfei said calmly. “So what if you’ve wasted a year? I wasted two, and I’m back at it. Talent is something time can’t replace.”
“I’m doing well farming,” Bo Yu mumbled.
“I see you’re as bad at farming as you were at playing professionally,” Lin Mingfei scoffed, mocking him ruthlessly. “Just don’t ruin your family’s land.”
Xia Tong was restless in the car, staring out the window anxiously. When Lin Mingfei and Bo Yu got into the car, he asked eagerly, “Are you two okay?”
“All good,” Lin Mingfei replied. “Little Bo, did you bring everything? Need to check again?”
“No, it’s fine,” Bo Yu shook his head. “The base isn’t unfamiliar.”
Xia Tong, still worried, rubbed his hands together and apologized to Bo Yu, “Sorry, I didn’t do well in the live stream. They probably think your plums taste bad… How about this? I’ll buy all your plums. I’ll pay for them.”
“I think it’s not up to you,” Shi Ya smiled, scrolling through Weibo. “Bo Jia Zhuang’s plums are all sold out?”
“Eh?” Xia Tong was stunned. “How is that possible?”
Bo Yu also thought he heard wrong and pulled out his phone to check. He found that under the live stream promotion Shi Ya shared, there were numerous comments from fans, some of whom seemed to have just appeared from nowhere.
[“I bought the bad plums! Where’s the cute live-streamer?”]
[“He knows Timer and Island, this baby’s got a story!”]
[“Where is he? Where’s my little baby? Come back!!”]
[“I need to know this little treasure’s info in the next three minutes!!”]
[“Baby!! Let Mommy see you one more time!! Don’t eat those terrible plums!”]
